Berney Associates provides packaged workshops that can be tailored to meet your specific needs. The primary focus of all workshops is on acquiring or refining skills through active skill practice in small groups. Sessions also include a conceptual model for each topic area as well as a discussion of current research. Tailored case exercises are frequently used.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
ABC's of Supervisory Training: Learn the key basic skills for new supervisors including: Delegation, Motivation, Coaching, Performance Management, Managing Conflict, Managing Challenging People, Facilitating Meetings, and Developing Teams. This supervisory program is broken into 8 half day modules whose timing can be tailored to your organization's needs. Each session is skills-based and highly interactive.
Change Management Skills: This workshop focuses on the critical stages of managing change, what to expect and how to manage these stages. For intact teams, the team can diagnose what stage it is in as well as participate in activities that will help the team move through that stage and on to the next. Click here for more information!
Coaching and Feedback: This workshop is composed of two central components: Coaching and Giving Feedback. Participants learn central tenets of coaching and giving feedback (to superiors, subordinates and colleagues). In addition, participants receive feedback on their skills in these two areas.
Conflict Resolution Skills: This workshop focuses on diagnosing sources of conflict, identifying appropriate conflict styles to use and, strategies for resolving conflicts. Workshops methods include skill practices, case exercises, film and self-assessment instrument. For intact teams, conflicts existing in the group can be identified, analyzed and resolved. Customer Service:The
customer service course teaches tactical skills and hands-on strategies for giving top-notch customer service to both your internal and external customers. How to "Go the Extra Mile" and Manage Difficult Customers are two key areas of focus in the customer service course. Click here for more information!
Developing A Learning Organization: This workshop gives specific strategies for using a "learning organization" approach to examining past, present and future team and organizational decisions and to learning from these situations to improve handling those that arise in the future. Specific tailored team decisions are analyzed.
Diversity Awareness and Management: In this workshop, participants enhance their awareness of, and learn strategies for managing, individual differences at work. Participants learn hands-on strategies for responding to challenging diversity situations at work, ultimately enhancing communication and sensitivity in the workplace.

Emotional Intelligence:In this interactive course, participants assess themselves on the key competencies of Emotional Intelligence including Self Awareness, Empathy, Self Regulation, Motivation and Social Skills. They also practice using each of these competencies and learn strategies for enhancing them.
Leadership Development Program for Excellence I: This
program will be offered to mid-level and senior managers across both the private
and public sector. It will be a very exciting opportunity to: (1) learn cutting
edge concepts, research and skills; (2) receive tailored, individual feedback/coaching
on key leadership gaps and, (3) develop a new set of peer mentors.
Managing Challenging Employees: This workshop focuses on how to identify and manage challenging employees (e.g., people who dominate, complain excessively, etc.). Learning methods focus on case exercises and role playing to handle these challenging behaviors.Click here for more information!
Managing Personal Productivity: This workshop applies the work of Steven Covey to time management, i.e., how to accomplish one's critical and long-term goals in the context of a work schedule with many urgent but not always important tasks. Skills addressed include: how to say no, how to structure work tasks and how to prioritize.
Facilitating Team Meetings Workshop: This workshop focuses on how to run a meeting, set an agenda, keep a group on task and deal with challenging participants. Tips and strategies are discussed and then practiced through tailored case exercises. Click here for more information!
Myers Briggs Advanced with Step II:This is a more advanced workshop for trainees who know the Myers Briggs and their types and who want to learn more about the depth and complexity of type dynamics. More specifically, this workshop is tailored for staff and managers who want to more fully develop themselves. Participants will take Step II of the Myers Briggs, which gives more detailed and complex subscale results for each of the personality preferences. Step II results are accompanied by a custom-made report for each individual. Click here for more information! Myers Briggs Type Indicator: The Myers Briggs Indicator workshop introduces participants to the Myers Briggs. Participants take the Indicator prior to the session. It is then scored and returned during this workshop. During the session, participant scores are explained as are the key personality preferences. In addition, participants engage in exercises on each of the four preferences to get a fuller understanding of these personality differences among them. Specific strategies for working with others with different personalities in teams are given. A Type Table representing the different personality types of workshop participants is created and implications and strategies for working together are explored. Click here for more information!
Myers Briggs for Teams: This workshop focuses on the use of Myers Briggs in teams and is to be used for intact teams wanting to enhance their decision-making and communication processes to heighten their team's effectiveness. Participants will receive both an individual and a team composite score and will work together on examining strengths and areas of development for the team as a whole. Negotiation Skills: This workshop teaches state-of-the-art win-win negotiation skills. Learning methods include tailored courses, Harvard Negotiation Project case studies, a self-assessment instrument on conflict style and workbook exercises. Situational Leadership Skills: This workshop gives specific strategies for managing employees with varying competence and commitment levels. The situational leadership model is presented and practiced through specific tailored cases.
Stress Management: Participants will assess their current level of "strain", current stressors at work and practice several stress management techniques. Participants will also learn about "stress personalities" that people use during times of stress that actually exacerbate rather than lessen stress. Participants then identify which styles they use and learn strategies for coping more effectively with stress at work.
Team Building: Berney Associates collaborates with you to build high performance teams. We conduct team building training do this through assessing the strengths and challenges of the team and through developing strategies to surmount these challenges. Strategies may include: mediating interpersonal conflicts, defining unclear roles and goals, coaching team leadership and identifying processes to be put in place that are critical to work effectiveness. Team Development: This workshop teaches the basics of team development: identifying clear goals and expectations, roles and responsibilities; how to manage conflict and decision-making in teams and how to improve communication within teams.
