Conflict Management Skills Workshop (full day)
In this one-day course, participants learn:
- Models for diagnosing conflict
- Key conflict management tactics
- Their conflict management style
- Which conflict styles work best in different kinds of situations
- How to diffuse anger and deal with resistance
- How to listen actively and show empathy
- How to give and receive feedback effectively
This interactive course includes small group discussion, tailored cases, self-assessment, conflict role-plays, listening and feedback skill practices and a film from the John Cleese Management series.
Managing Challenging People Workshop (full day)
In this one-day course, participants learn how to:
- Discern between challenging people and challenging situations
- Use a typology of different kinds of challenging people
- Choose tailored strategies to address each kind of challenging person
- Prepare for a feedback meeting with a challenging person
- Actively listen, empathize and come to agreement on behavior changes with the challenging person
This interactive course includes small group discussion, tailored cases, self-assessment, conflict role-plays, listening and feedback skill practices and role-play activities.
Negotiation Skills Workshop (two days)
In this two-day course, participants learn, practice and apply key interests-based negotiation tenets from the Harvard Negotiation Program.
They learn how to:
- Separate people from the problem
- Be firm and friendly
- Identify each party’s interests
- Brainstorm possible options
- Analyze options
- Create legitimate standards by which to assess solutions
- Create win-win solutions that meet everyone’s needs
The class includes: two tailored negotiation cases (which all participants negotiate), a self assessment instrument, a film from the John Cleese Management Series, skill practices in identifying interests and options, and instructor-provided feedback on participants’ negotiation styles.

This two hour presentation addresses the benefits of conflict at work along with keys to diagnosing conflict and tactics for managing conflict. Strategies addressed include: active listening, providing constructive feedback, showing empathy, identifying interests and options and creating constructive dialogue. This interactive presentation includes small group activities and large group discussion. |
